Golden Sand Prawn

This is a modified version of this dish. We love prawns but sometimes we are just too lazy to remove the shelled. At times, we just remove the shells without enjoying the flavours on it. Hence, I modified the recipe a little so the prawns now get all the flavours and not just on the shells.

Since the shells are removed, you have to be careful not to overcook the prawns. I didn't deep fried them, just a bit more oil to shallow fry.

Those who doesn't like to get their fingers dirty will like this. :)

  • 10 Large Prawns, shelled and devein
  • 2 Salted Egg Yolk
  • 1 stem Curry Leaves
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 tablespoon Evaporated Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar

  • 1 teaspoon Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sesame Seed Oil
  • 3 tablespoon Corn Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • a dash of pepper

How to do it:
  1. Marinate the prawns for 10 minutes.
  2. Shallow fry the prawn till 80% cooked.
  3. Drain well and set aside .
  4. Meanwhile, steam the salted egg yolks for 10 minutes or till just done.
  5. Smash cooked yolks.
  6. Melt butter and add in curry leaves and fried till fragrant.
  7. Add in salted yolks and evaporated milk and prawns.
  8. Toss well quickly.
  9. Add salt and sugar.
  10. Stir till well combined.
  11. Dish and serve immediately.

  1. Hi babe,

Simply love your receipe and tried a few u hubby loves it :)

Just to ask for the salted egg yolk if I do not want to use that...can I use egg yolk to replace? :)

If use Happycall, all procedures are the same right?

    1. Yes, you can use regular egg yolk. I'm going to post a recipe on that soon. :)

Yes, same if using HCP :)

  2. I love this recipe mmmmm with salted egg yoke !!

  3. Hi Wokking Mum,

What is the purpose of evaporated milk here? Can i skip this? Thanks!

    1. It's to make the sauce creamy. You can skip this. It will just be a bit drier. But taste just as good. :)

  4. Hi wokking mum

Can I substitute evaporated milk to other milk as I do not know how to use the remain portion?

  5. You can use milk but it wont taste the same. Evaporated milk is thicker and sweeter. You might want to try using only 1 tablespoon only.

  6. Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to say that I've truly enjoyed browsing your blog posts. In any case I will be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!
