Pan Fried Fish Tofu

I have been making this Fish Tofu for a few years. In the beginning, it was to incorporate vegetables to food that my veggie hater son likes to eat.

4 years passed and I'm still making this but it never fail to make my son to eat more even it's stuffed with chopped veggies. Yes, he still hates veggies. :/

  • 150g Fish Paste
  • 1 tube Egg Tofu
  • 2 stalk Baby Bok Choy, chopped
  • 2 Crabstick, chopped
  • a dash of Pepper (optional)

How to do it:
  1. Cut the tip of egg tofu and squeeze tofu out to a bowl.
  2. Add in fish paste, chopped baby bok choy and crabstick.
  3. Add pepper and mix well.
  4. Take a deep dish, oil all sides well for easy removable.
  5. Spread fish tofu paste.
  6. Cover with foil.
  7. Steam for 15 minutes or till cooked.
  8. Removed and cut into pieces.
  9. Pan fried the steamed fish tofu with a little till slightly brown on all sides.
  10. Serve.
  • You can use other type of vegetables if you like.
  • If you want it with a crispy outer skin, dust it with corn flour before pan frying the fish tofu.
  • I used the Happy Call Pan to pan fry the fish tofu.
  • I placed the tofu cubes on the sides of the pan so I can pan fry 2 -3 sides at the same time.
  • Cover the pan and pan fry for a minute each time over medium low heat.

  1. Hi, when you use happycall pan, do you need to use any oil? Is it really good? Non-leaking? Where do you get it from?

  2. i love egg tofu! thanks for telling us how to eat it, other than just steamed or in soup.

by the way, would you happen to know how to make nice jelly-like kelp?

  3. Hello,

You missed out step 2 of the recipe.

BTW can you show us a picture of the Happy Call Pan and where to buy?

  4. Thanks for pointing out. It's just numbering error. Ok, I do a post on HCP.

  5. Hi,

Just to clarify, do you crush the egg tofu and mix with the rest of the ingredients before steaming?

  6. Anon, Yes, mix everything together before steaming. :)

  7. Hello,

    Thanks for the recipes.

I have made this 2 times this week, pan fried and steam version. Both taste very good.

I guess if those pple want a healthy version, the steam on is really good.

  8. Hello,

I'm new here. May I know where to get the fish paste and what brand do you use? Thks!

    1. I bought mine from the wet market, Yong Tau Foo stall. You can also get them from supermarket.

  9. Hi,

May I know from which section in supermarket I can get the fish paste? I'm a new cook, but I'm very keen to try this for my little girl. :) Thks so much!

    1. It's where the fishball and fishcakes are. If you go to the bigger Giant Supermarket branches, they will have a Yong Tau Foo stall, you can check with them if they have it too.

  10. Thank you so much! :)

  11. Hi! After steaming, i poured out the mixture but it breaks and not in a whole piece. What went wrong ? Need yr advise and tips. Tks.
