Baked Soy Sauce Wings

These days when my dinner involves baking in the oven, I try to parboil them first (if possible) to save electrical bills. :P Sometimes, by doing so, I can cut cooking time to almost half or more.

Depending on what you are cooking, parboiling doesn't necessary make the food less tasty.

Ingredients:
  • 6 Mid-joint Wings
  • 20ml Light Soy Sauce
  • 100ml Water
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger Juice

How to do it:
  1. Mix all ingredients well in a pot.
  2. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to a simmer.
  3. Continue cooking for15 minutes.
  4. Remove wings and place them on a rack. Retain sauce for basting.
  5. Bake them in the oven at 200C for 7 minutes.
  6. Remove the wings and dip them the the sauce previously retain from cooking.
  7. Return to bake for another 5 minutes.
  8. Serve.

  2. Ellena,
Thanks. I love baked wings too and using oven is not so sinful. At least not so oily compared to frying. :P

  4. I can't believe I actually cooked 3 dishes from your blog in one dinner! This was really good. Had it yesterday and today cuz I was left with so much sauce. I doubled your recipe and made 25 chicken wingettes out of it! And I'm still left with lots of the sauce. I kept it and will use it again by this weekend. It was a little salty to my liking so I diluted it with a little water and cut down on the soy sauce. Did you get the amount right Elaine? Just double checking, I dare not doubt your skills for you're definitely a better cook that I am. Thanks a lot!
